Agape Home Children

It was quite a story of how I became the solar installer for Agape and got involved in this orphanage school.

Our Story

It was October 26, 2022. I was waiting to pay for my swimming shorts at the Decathlon Shop in Chiang mai. The payment machine was not working properly so I had to wait as well as the people behind me. I then turned around and started the conversation with the woman who I later learned that she was the director of the orphanage school, Avis. I then asked her what did she buy and she responded with something I did not remember. However, I then responded to Avis’ question what I did in Chiang mai. As soon as she learned that I was the solar installer, she was interested and asked me further about price and asked I could visit her house to see if there’s any possibility for installation at her house.

I visited Avis house in Sansai, Chiangmai. There I met Roy, her husband who was also helping the orphanage school. Roy showed me around the house and I gave the plan for her house. I intended to install 5KWP for her house. However, the project turned out to be too expensive for them and they could not afford the proposal. Avis mentioned briefly about the solar project to be installed at orphanage school. She said the bidding was already finished and it was pity I was not there in time to propose project.

On Nov 15, 2022, I received missed calls from Avis and I was later informed that the school is interested in talking to me for this project. I asked them a few questions just to make sure they really wanted to talk to me as the installer, not just the propose the project in comparison with other project that they already agreed to give job. I was growing up in the business environment where the business entrepreneurs were treated differently. Most of the time you enter the bidding process to compliment the other insider’s job. You are definitely not gonna get a job but you will help the competitor to get the job without any scrutiny or investigation for conflict of interest later.

On Nov 21, 2022, I met Avis and Jeanet at the Agape to discuss about the possibility to install the solar panels and the system over the roof. I then took a really short time to design the panels and to send the Single Line Diagram for them in brief. I went to meet them briefly in the morning with my friends (Potjana and Alan) and we had a great discussion. Jeanet told me that the price should be good for both. I totally agree for this and I have put every effort to give them the best price as they are raising fund from the people of the Netherlands to the foundation. After several weeks of negotiation and discussion, the Rotary of the Netherlands agreed to hire me to install the project for slightly over a million. After I agreed to sign the contract, the installation was made possible a few month after due to the team from the Netherlands. The installation did not start until Feb 3, 2023 and completed in Mar 1, 2023.

What is best for this project is the followings:

  • Started with 40kw and upgraded to 50kw without any extra payment.

  • 96 of Longi 550 have been increased to 555 Watts resulting into 53,280 Watts in total energy production of PV.

  • All premium equipment (PV1F 6sq.mm; Yazaki 10 sq.mm AC grounding cable; Yazaki 25sq.mm cable from inverter to MDB)

  • Also replace new breaker of 100 amp and 35 sq.mm to existing MDB. Customer pay 50,000 Baht extra for purchasing a new cable. However, SolarESS wire the cable for free and plus pay the extra amount of cable (approx. 4000 baht)
